Cape Town Hotels

Cape Town Hotels are many and varied, as you would expect. From back-packers rooms, small Bed and Breakfasts, Country Guest Houses, right through to the most exclusive, luxury international-standard five star hotels, every conceivable accommodation is catered for.

One of the best ways to work through the myriad of places to stay, would be to decide what type of vacation you are after.

  • Do you want to stay in international-standard hotels?
  • Would you prefer the more personal surroundings of a privately run establishment?
  • Or perhaps you would prefer to get closer to nature!

Also consider, especially in Cape Town, whether you are going to be seeing a lot of the nightlife on offer. If so, perhaps choosing hotels close to the centre of Cape Town or the Waterfront would be a good idea, as you can use taxis late at night to get back to your hotel. As with any major city in the world, it is worth being careful with your personal safety (not having too much wealth on show, such as mobile (cell) phones, jewellery, cameras etc).

Accommodation in South Africa

In our experience, accommodation in South Africa is good. We have tended to chose

  • Smaller guest houses or bed and breakfasts,
  • High degree of personal service,
  • Good quality surroundings
  • and somewhere you can get away from it all

Service is a by-word for hotels in Cape Town. Capetonians' are very proud of their City and want every traveller to enjoy their stay and therefore work hard at pleasing their guests.

One of our personal favourites (because it's very close to where we stay on Woodbridge Island, Milnerton) is Leisure Bay Luxury Suites, Lagoonbeach Waterfront, Milnerton.

Fantastic views of Table Mountain from every suite, whilst direct access to the longest, sandy beach for great walks with a chance to see dolphins playing in the surf and a wonderful place to watch that glorious sun go down.

One of the best bits about this hotel is that it's situated just outside the main city centre, so the accommodation is quiet and peaceful, whilst still being five minutes away from all the busy activity that makes up Cape Town.

Ok, so we're biased! But it's the next best thing to Woodbridge Island (where there're no hotels). We've had friends that have stayed here, so that they're close to the island and they've not been disappointed. Just take a look at the views from this Cape Town Hotel ...

Everything's catered for here with both hotel and Cape Town self-catering.

Cape Town Beaches

Each beach we visit, we recommend various hotels, guest houses and self catering. We also show you things to do and see whilst you're there - we hope you like our choices.

Here are a few other hotels we would recommend, which you might like to check out:

The Cullinan Hotel, (view above) a great place to check out the cricketers that might be staying! A brand new hotel, situated right at the entrance to The Waterfront. Close to the Town with lovely views out over the harbour and Bay.

The President Hotel (view above) is round in Bantry Bay on the south side of the city. This is the hotel to have your sundowners, watching the most superb sunsets. Can't you just see yourself in the balmy evening warmth, looking out over this view! Needless to say you don't have to stay here to savour the sundowners! Always worth a visit at any time of year.

Dolphin Beach, (view above) another of our favourites, is away across the Bay on the north side towards Blaauberg in Table Bay. Both self catering and hotel accommodation are catered for.

Overlooking the longest, sandy beach, this hotel is about 15 -20 minutes outside of Cape Town itself, but is close to Canal Walk, offering fantastic shopping and Ratanga Junction, Southern Africa's largest theme park.

Of course, these hotels all tend to be large luxury hotels - somewhat impersonal, so if you're looking for something a bit more cosy and individual, we highly recommend that you take a look at this great website for Cape Town Hotels.

Christmas and New Year in Cape Town is incredibly busy, as you might expect! So unless you're visiting family or friends for the holidays, try to time your vacation for less hectic times, such as mid October through to end of March early April for the summer period, (missing out mid December through to mid January, of course).

The winter time is also a good time to visit, although the weather will be cooler and more windy generally.

If however, you fancy a last minute trip, do let this great website help with planning your Cape Town accommodation.

We are currently reviewing some of the selection of hotels and accommodation offered here, so check back frequently to see what our latest updates are.

If in the meantime you would like to receive our newsletter of all things new and happening in Cape Town, please enter your details in the form below and click send.

We look forward to being able to help you with planning your magical Cape Town Vacations.
